In a large bowl, combine blackberries and sugar. Let the mixture sit for 25–30 minutes to release the juices. This process is called macerating and helps sweeten and soften the berries.

In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, and milk. Stir in the melted butter until the batter is mostly smooth.

Pour the batter into a clean, ungreased baking dish. Spread it evenly. Spoon the blackberry and sugar mixture on top, making sure to pour all the juice over the batter as well.
Step 5:
Bake for 45 to 60 minutes, or until the top is golden and the edges are bubbling. Allow the cobbler to cool for at least 15 minutes so it can set.
